ieso, the leader in online cognitive behavioural therapy provision and an innovator in mental healthcare, is excited to announce that it has been named a winner in Red Herring’s Top 100 Europe. Recognising Europe’s leading private companies, Red Herring selects award winners from approximately 1,200 companies each year, celebrating innovation and technologies across industries.
"In 2020, selecting the top achievers was by no means a small feat,” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “In fact, we had the toughest time in years because so many entrepreneurs had crossed significant milestones so early in the European tech ecosystem. But after much thought, rigorous contemplation and discussion, we narrowed our list down from hundreds of candidates from across Europe to the Top 100 Winners. We believe ieso embodies the vision, drive and innovation that define a successful entrepreneurial venture. ieso should be proud of its accomplishment, as the competition was very strong.”
As a clinically proven digital healthcare provider, ieso’s vision is to deliver and develop services that remove barriers to evidence-based mental health treatment and recovery. Today, ieso partners with 75 NHS clinical commissioning groups across England under the IAPT programme (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies), providing online cognitive behavioural therapy that enables clinicians to treat patients remotely within a secure, text-based and confidential environment. ieso has treated more than 50,000 patients and conducted over 250,000 hours of therapy with its service to date. As part of its development arm, last year ieso launched its Eight Billion Minds programme that applies deep learning to real-world data from therapy sessions to understand more about what works for whom and develop digital tools to support and deliver therapy at scale.
"A drive to do good through combining innovation in clinical methodologies, technology, and analytics is at the core of our culture and, having hit many positive milestones in 2019 such as achieving 55% revenue growth and launching Eight Billion Minds, this prestigious award recognises the work we have been doing to deliver digital therapy to more people suffering from mental health disorders,” said Nigel Pitchford, CEO at ieso. “Clearly in today’s world digital delivery has a lot to offer, particularly in terms of making sure services and treatment remain available to patients, and we want to continue pushing boundaries by developing more accessible and automated services that scale further to support therapists’ effectiveness and most importantly puts patients first.”
To choose this year’s winners, Red Herring’s editorial staff evaluated the companies on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technological innovation, management quality, and overall business strategy and market penetration. This assessment was complemented by a review of the track records and standings of similar start-ups in the same verticals, allowing Red Herring to make the list a valuable instrument of discovery and advocacy for the most promising new business models in Europe.
Thousands of the most interesting and innovative companies have graced the Top 100 list over the years and, Red Herring’s editors were among the first to recognize companies such as Alibaba, Facebook, Google, SalesForce.com, Skype, SuperCell, Spotify, Twitter, and YouTube would change the way we live and work.
